Why Are Fertiles So Damn Stupid?

The California Octuplets are in the news.  The medical staff thought that there were 7 babies in utero, but wait, there was one more hiding.  I wish each and every one of those little angels a loving, healthy, wonderful life.

Has anyone else noticed people in the media speculating that fertility treatments were involved.  WTF!?!?  No shit, you freaking idiots.  I am not a medical professional, but I am quite sure that the chances of having 8 eggs ovulate and all get fertilized would be tantamount to a virgin birth.  On The View, Joy Behar, said in a kind of aside, "hmmm I wonder tone" if IVF was involved.  Thank goodness Sheri Shepherd, who went through IVF, cleared that up by saying probably fertility drugs, but not IVF.

I can only imagine how good IVF professionals are steaming over the avalanche of such ignorant speculation.  Fertiles are so unbelievable STUPID and IGNORANT when it comes to fertility - even people with advanced degrees.

I'll never forget my ex-fiance, a successful business attorney in Southern California, looking at me after a segment that ran on 60 minutes about infertility in wonderment when he asked "You mean you can't get pregnant at anytime?  You just have a couple days a month?"  This is a man who was conceited about how smart he was, boasting that he was smarter than anyone he knew and he was a complete moron about reproduction.  A 45 year old with an advanced degree that knew as much about reproduction as a 10 year old boy.  I should have known then .  .   .  .

Anyway, today while discussing the octuplets a 30 year old friend who is getting married soon (and will start having kids right away) basically asked the same thing after I was explaining the infertility birds and bees to her.  "So how many days can you get pregnant in a month?"  I then went on to explain just basic fertility facts to her - egg shelf life, sperm shelf life, etc.

I understand ignorance is bliss and God knows I haven't known bliss in an awful long time, but I am astonished at the depth of ignorance surrounding infertility.  No wonder people feel so blindsided when the evils of infertility enters their world.  Our mission to spread Infertility Awareness is apparently just beginning and desperately needed!

I think laughing at Fertiles being so damn stupid about reproduction is fair game for us.  We deserve to be smug about SOMETHING!!!!!   What are some of the stupid comments from Fertiles that you've heard?????

Update On Free Bumper Magnets

WOW! The response within 24 hours of my offer was fantastic!

I am so happy to hear from proud infertility warriors all over the US and one from Canada.  I have renewed hope that a change is coming to society's view on infertility.  Our struggles will be validated and supported.  There will be understanding and compassion.  It may not change completely during our struggle, but we are part of laying the groundwork for future infertiles and that is really cool.

So, I am out of the Infertility Awareness bumper magnets, but please be aware that Cafe Press has the same design available on numerous items, including regular vinyl bumper stickers for $4.19 each.  The link is www.cafepress.com/infertilaware

I do have to throw in a plug for the product that started this all for me - the Fertility Hope medal which you can check out by clicking on the above links or www.lifemedals.com.  I created it after I searched for something to validate my struggles with infertility.  Last year after my fiance broke up  with me I was unemployed and unable to find a decent job.  I took a retail job and decided to pursue my dream of a company that would help infertiles.  I had left my career to be with him in CA and support him acting as a wife and future stay-at-home mom.

Thankfully I had savings that I have lived on and invested to create Life Medals, but have been disappointed by the absolute lack of interest by the press in the Fertility Hope pendant and the need for Infertility Awareness in general.

So my blogging buddies, any help from you to spread the word on my business is very much appreciated.   I wear the Fertility Hope pendant everyday and get complimented on it.  Sometimes I tell them what it is about and sometimes I don't.  I designed it to not scream infertility. However, if you see a woman wearing one, you will know she is one of us.

Once I am profitable I promise you this - there will be more free goodies from the Infertility Warrior!!  In fact I can't wait to do it.

Thank you for all your interest and best of luck to all of you!!!!!

FREE For Brave Infertility Warriors

I have made a limited quantity of magnet bumper stickers with the Infertility Awareness logo, the phrase "Millions struggle in silence." and my website.  These are not the inexpensive vinyl stickers - these are strong flexible magnets. (see image below)

Women, both infertile and fertile currently have these on their cars to raise awareness.  Symbols are powerful (anyone know what a pink ribbon is for??????)  This will help women who have resolved their journey, currently undergoing treatment, and the young women of the future.

Come out from the shadows, infertility is a noble journey!  We must take steps to raise awareness and understanding if we ever want to see society at large (coworkers, friends, family, etc.) to offer support and compassion for infertility.

I am offering these FREE OF CHARGE to the first people to send their name and mailing address to me at patrice@lifemedals.com.  I will even pick up the mailing costs!
